...by a client who doesn’t need it anymore for my HP Pavilion Touchsmart 14 running Linux Mint 18.3.
Clearly I am a wealthy and fashionable gentleman. :P

Mint... what are your impressions? How is it as a day-to-day OS? How do you use it (business/personal/admin)? What’s the app environment like? I know, it’s Linux, so everything is compatible with modification, but I’m not inclined to do much programming.

If you peel back the badge & lining, you’ll find it’s actually several small Volkswagen laptop bags joined together.

Mint is great! I’ve got a Win10 desktop that I do more involved stuff (video editing, etc.) and gaming on and also normal everyday stuff, but when lounging around, I use my laptop and have been using Mint on my laptops since Mint 14 (2012).
It works fine, boots quickly, I’ve almost never had any issues with it. Printers can be a pain in Linux if you don’t have an HP printer (their Linux support is very good), but I would say that is the only downside. I’ve got a decent compatible program/app (or appS in some cases) that make up for anything Windows-based I can’t use on Linux (Krita/Pinta/GIMP for image editing vs. Photoshop, for example). Mint is based on Ubuntu, so anything for Ubuntu or Debian should install very easily.
Very customizable as well. Linux Mint 19 will be coming out in a few months and is another long-term support release, so where Mint 18.3 is good until 2021 if you didn’t want to upgrade to Mint 19 yet, Mint 19 will be good until 2023 for support. There is also usually an upgrade path straight through the Update Manager for minor and major revisions (i.e. 18.2-18.3 or 18.3-19).
